2021 Annual Meeting Talk, "I Will Never Abandon You"
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthis 19 minute talk by “governing body” member samuel herd lacks enthusiasm, energy and mostly reads his script.
looks like he was forced to talk about something he no longer believes, but goes along what was written to appease the rest of the ''governing body.''.
mr. herd says, ''sometimes we have to make adjustments.

It's amazing how Jehovah so often sends them the wrong message in the first place and then agrees with whatever change they make...until the next time.
So the last I heard, the number of those partaking of the "emblems" has been increasing every year so I presume that these ones are younger than the ones who had already partaking. If they all have to be dead before Armageddon, it seems to me there could be a bit of a wait ahead. Maybe this is why they went ahead and built those Movie Studios even though everyone else believed when they've been giving everyone the impression that the end was "right around the corner".
I'm glad to hear it because I bought a bunch of very green bananas yesterday and I'd hate to see them go to waste.

Is Bible prophecy now starting to come true regarding the prelude to the great tribulation?
by Disillusioned JW inis bible prophecy now starting to come true regarding a prelude to the great tribulation?.
full disclosure: i still don't believe in the bible's claims about the existence of the supernatural, even of jehovah god (i'm an atheist and a scientific/philosophical naturalist), but i am asking this question because recent events are starting to seem (to me) to fit well the description of some prophecies in the bible.
consider the following.. several hours ago (on 11-26-2021) as i was about to enter a local fred meyer store of my city (in suburb or small city in the metro area of a large city) a person i know told me that a moment earlier a person left the store in a hurry with a cart load up with unpaid merchandise (i think i was told it was groceries but i don't remember that for sure).

I understand what you're saying but you have to remember you're getting your information from two skewed sources (Religion and the evening news) who are both known to have an agenda and who are both experts at playing upon peoples fears and they make big bucks doing so.
Like you, I was conditioned to see world events as a whole and as they appear to be when compared to a certain interpretation of the Bible rather than as the isolated incidents that they are.
We must be on guard against beliefs that were acquired in states of emotional arousal. Just look at the pictures in the Watchtower. They're either of utopian Paradise scenes or scenes of utter destruction taking place. Don't think they don't know what they're doing. Who wouldn't want to live forever in a magical paradise when we've been led to believe that the only option available is either be a JW or be destroyed in a worldwide cataclysmic event brought on by God. All reason and logic goes out the window when we become emotionally convinced by people who we've come to trust, that information like this is accurate.
Many JW's confuse "love for God" with wanting to "Save their own skin" from destruction. -

Really? Does anybody there have a right to depend on anybody else? I never believed they did
No of course not but for goodness sake, weren't we were supposed to be willing to die for one another? Does anybody have the right to expect that or depend upon it happening? According to JW's, Yes they do.
The organization has no problem making people feel warm and fuzzy by leading them to believe that they're "Protected" within the Congregation and they're part of a "Worldwide Brotherhood". They give the appearance of being "Johnny on the Spot" when natural disasters hit when in reality they're after insurance money. Theres a mixed message. They advise JW's to quit their Jobs and Pioneer and Jehovah will provide. Then someones electricity is turned off, it's their own fault. We'll die for you but don't ask us to pay for your electricity because you decided to be a Pioneer and didn't earn enough money this month.
At least the Mormons have funds set aside for their members when they get in trouble and give them assistance in finding work when they're unemployed. An old JW couple in their 70 who have no Social Security because they were in the Circuit work their whole lives, without the help of the Congregation, are up a creek with no paddle.

Back around 2004 there was an elderly C.O. and his wife in our Congregation. He left the work at 70 because of health problems and was assigned to our congregation. They had no Social Security so he took a job as a school bus driver and his wife got a job as a perfume "sniper" at the mall, spraying people and handing out perfume samples.
They drove an old Ford Fiesta (death trap) and lived in an older flimsily built Mobile Home in a not so nice mobile home park. I used to help them fix things because he had no skills in terms of household repairs because he had been in the Circuit work since he was young. Consequently, their place was falling apart. She had to plug the garbage disposal into an extension cord and plug it into an outlet in another room because the switch didn't work. Their dining room light hadn't worked for years and the carpet was threadbare.
I'm pretty handy in all of the trades and she called me over there because someone had given her some used carpet and she wanted me to install it for them. I looked at the carpet pieces and there wasn't enough to do the job and besides that is was in bad shape. She began sobbing because it seems that one of he husband's old Gilead school buddies from back in the day had called and wanted to visit but he was too ashamed of their home to let him come. This used carpet was her only hope of making their home better.
It broke my heart to see this sweet old lady so upset about her husbands embarrassment. I was able to get them some new carpet and install it and they were thrilled. I got all the electrical problems solved and spiffed the place up for them. He came home from work and was like a little kid who just got a new toy. He was so happy with the new carpet and to be able to switch on lights that hadn't worked in years. They viewd ME as being sent by Jehovah. Little did they know that in my mind, I was condemning their beloved organization for letting this happen to this old couple while they lived in grandeur in New York City.
That being said, unless things have changed for the better, these folks are turned out once they are of no value to the organization. Theres an imaginary brotherhood that exists and it makes you feel warm and fuzzy when things are going ok. Once any real tangible help is needed for any length of time, you're on your own.

QUESTION of the DAY (a brain teaser)
by Terry inquestion of the dayeach man chosen of the twelve jesus selected had been called disciples, or "students" (meaning "one who learns").
(latin discipulus; greek μαθητής mathētḗs; hebrew לִמּוּד limmûdh;jesus is stated in the bible to have sent out the twelve using a new description: apostles, "whom he also named apostles" (luke 6:13), first before his death "to the lost sheep of israel" (matthew 10), and after his (resurrection to spread the message of the good news to all nations (matthew 28:16-28:20).with the above firmly in mind, the question arises: “why aren’t the governing body called apostles?”.

I think if you posed this question to them they'd tell you that individually they are Apostles of Christ (as are all JW's) but are also an individual member of the Governing Body. They believe that they are the "faithful and discrete slave" spoken of in the Bible and that they are Apostles of Jesus who were directed by him to form this group and oversee his belongings.

Missed opportunity of Jehovah’s Witnesses
by Abraham1 injesus had foretold that people of "last days" would “faint out of fear” because of things such as “sea-level rise’ as part of “signs of last days” in luke 21:25. bible translators—including new world translation of jehovah’s witnesses—missed the real meaning as they translated it as “roaring of the sea and its agitation.” (https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/nwt/books/luke/21/).
more careful translations such as niv put it: “roaring and tossing of the sea.” (https://biblehub.com/luke/21-25.htm) word for “tossing” is σάλου (salou), from saino; i.e., billow,” (swell outwards).
thus underlying thought is like balloon swelling, or water flowing outwards, as though ready to roll over, thus points to the modern terminology “sea-level rise.” biblos interlinear translation (int:) translates it as “of [the] sea and rolling surge.” “rolling sea.” (a greek lexicon to the new testament, edward robinson (d.d., page 416) (a greek lexicon to the new testament on the basis of dr. robinson ... by c. robson).. jesus’ original use of the wording “tossing of the sea” is another way of saying “sea-level would rise” as a result of pollution of air.

Jesus had foretold that people of "Last Days" would “faint out of fear” because of things such as “sea-level rise’ as part of “signs of Last Days” in Luke 21:25.
He (if he even existed) was talking about Jerusalem.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. *** seems like a contradiction of verse 16 to me***
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ****what signs have we seen in the sun, moon and stars?***
Seems to me, this another case of self appointed religious zealots taking scriptures out of context and applying them to modern days using imagined symbolism without any way of proving their claims, then implanting their ideas into scared small minded people who need to be told what to think and who are willing to believe anything so long as it makes them feel safer.
I graduated from high school in 1975 and I remember 2 years previously sitting in Biology class hearing the dire warnings of Jaques Cousteau and other noteworthy scientist who said that because of pollution, there would be no life left in the ocean by the year 2000. I remember being quite distressed by this but then thinking smugly to my fully indoctrinated JW self "there's no need to worry about the environment, this system of things will be gone long before the year 2000. I'm not even supposed to graduate from high school "
Here we are 46 years later and I did graduate, had a career, raised a family, have grandchildren, retired two years ago and the ocean still has life in it. Even so, we still have bible thumping "new-comers" who don't realize that all of the agonizing and falsely interpreting the Bible has been going on long before they were born and will be going on long afterward. I fell for it way back then because I didn't have the fullness of time to look back on and to make comparisons . I do now and that's one of the many good things about getting older.
When it comes to religion and the Bible, my advice to Abraham1 is not to take it all too seriously. -
